CHENNAI: A three-day exhibition organised by the Handlooms Department began at Sri Kumaran Augraha Kalyana Mandapam in West Mambalam on Saturday.

Cotton saris of 39 cooperative societies in the State, Co-optex, Loom World and SGSY units are on display at the exhibition-cum-sale. The prices of cotton saris range from Rs.200 to 1,800 and silk saris from Rs.1,500 to 15,000.

A 50 per cent discount is being given for select varieties of silk saris and 20 per cent to all cotton varieties. A new silk saree named “New Waves,” introduced recently by a Kancheepuram society, is on display in the exhibition.
