Kakinada: Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi suggested to the district officials to concentrate on foolproof implementation of development and welfare schemes in the next five to six months to ensure that the targeted sections derived the benefits. He said there should be no scope for corruption as the very purpose for the schemes might be defeated. Addressing a review meeting, Mr. Dwivedi said steps should be taken to expedite the process of executing the schemes so that the eligible beneficiaries are not dissatisfied with the delays, which result in cost escalations. Concerted efforts have to be made by all the departments concerned to fulfil the assurances given by the government. Mr. Dwivedi instructed the officials of Agriculture Department to mobilise farmers for the crop insurance scheme in order to mitigate their losses caused by various factors. Similarly, all eligible farmers have to be made to avail of the Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme – 2008. Rescue teams comprising police personnel and staff of different departments have to be constituted at the district and the mandal level to face natural calamities. Revenue division officers have to check the functioning of wireless sets made available in the coastal villages to disseminate information during contingencies such as cyclones. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
