Reality shows

The reality shows on various television channels afford an opportunity to the young to showcase their talent. Presumably, only those who attain some level of efficiency in their fields are selected for the shows. There are three or more judges who rank the participants based on their performance. They also give their opinions and point out the mistakes committed by the participants. All the while, the youngsters are forced to stand rooted to a spot listening to criticism, which can sometimes border on diatribe. Worse, all this takes place in full view of a vast audience.

If the judges feel the participants should improve their performance, they should talk to them or their tutors in private. The existing practice has a negative impact on children and can lead to disastrous results.
