Militants to prevent movement of villagers

Imphal : Two major insurgent organisations on Monday said they would prevent the movement of villagers of Heirok in Manipur’s Thoubal district outside their village since they had decided to join Special Police Officers (SPO) forces to protect themselves. In a joint statement here, United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL) said they would not allow even government employees or students to go to offices or educational institutes located outside the village.

Both the organisations had asked the villagers not to join the SPO forces as this would affect the “revolutionary movement” in the State. — PTI
