CHENNAI: The city now has an additional player in the FM radio space, this time, promising a lot of discussion, dialogues and debates on matters of concern to the “educated and informed” listener. With the launch of 24-hour FM station Chennai Live 104.8 here on Tuesday, the Muthoot Group, a player in the finance, healthcare, education and hospitality sectors has entered the media space, too.

“The talk radio FM station will largely focus on events and issues pertaining to the city. The emphasis is on local content,” George M.George, Executive Director, Muthoot Group, said.

Station head Prem Kumar said besides talk shows and discussions, the station would also play recent hits in Tamil music as well as international music. “We want it to be the voice of the city. A forum where people can discuss anything from current, civic issues and books to music and say, theatre,” he said.

The content will be bilingual and presenters would switch to English or Tamil depending on the show.

The presenters are from different backgrounds and shows would also include interviews and discussions with senior professionals and celebrities of varied fields. Chennai Live 104.8 FM’s lead consultant Sunil Kumar said the station hoped to tap that segment which did not listen to radio on a daily basis.
