Watchman found dead

CHENNAI: The watchman of an apartment was found dead at Vadapalani here early on Tuesday.

Police said the charred body of T. Karuppazhagi (78) was found on the premises and the cot on which he was probably sleeping was completely burnt.

While post-mortem revealed no external or internal injuries, investigators have no clue as to how the incident occurred as there was no trace of petrol or any other inflammable substance at the scene.

Residents told the police that they did not hear or see anything unusual till late evening on Monday. Sniffer dogs and forensic experts were pressed into service. A special team has been formed to investigate the case.
