Theft in jewellery shop

MANGALORE: Five persons, who came in the guise of customers, allegedly decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.78 lakh at Moodbidri on Monday. Moodbidri Police, who have registered a case of theft on a complaint from Gopal Achar, said the group consisting of three men and two women, came to Kamal Jewellery located at Makarand Complex in Moodbidri and enquired with the owner for silver utensils and gold jewellery.

The accused allegedly stole some jewellery when the owner was trying to fetch the items sought by them from inside. The incident came to light much later when another customer came to the store and located a jewellery that had fallen on the floor. Police suspect that the accused could have dropped the jewellery while leaving the shop in a hurry. Police are investigating the case.

Burglary

The house of Leo Pereira at Gumodi Kadeshwalya village in Bantwal taluk has reportedly been burgled of 15 bags of areca nut. The incident took place between 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. Monday. Bantwal Rural Police, who have registered a case of burglary, said that the accused had gained entry by breaking open the door lock when the complainant was not at home. The loss has been estimated at Rs. 21,000.

Raided

The Kavoor Police raided a video game shop at Kuloor junction and taken 14 people into customer on charges of gambling. The police seized Rs. 17,400 in cash and four video boxes.
