The theme of ‘Materla Badukoli’ is environment protection MANGALORE: After the colour Tulu feature film on the twin war heroes “Koti-Chennayya” that bagged national award recently, a short Tulu film is all set to be released here on July 11. This new one-hour film, “Materla Badukoli”, is produced by Bhuvaneshwari Creations of Haleyangadi. The theme of the film is environment protection, according to its director Dinesh J. Acharya. The film will be released at Kalikamba Vinayaka temple in Car Street. Shot with camcorder“As the film has been shot with a camcorder, it cannot be screened in a cinema house. It is suited to television screens. A cable channel will screen it here on July 13, July 19 and 20,” Mr. Acharya said. AwardsPrakash Suvarna, who directed “Akku”, which bagged a State award, will speak on “Materla Badukoli”, said its producer P. Jagadeesha Acharya. The film had been shot in two months. In all, 12 persons had acted in it, he added. DistinctionTulu language, although spoken in only three districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasaragod (Kerala), had attracted national attention because of the films being produced in the language. “Suddo” (cleansing rites), a Tulu digital film produced in 2006 and directed by P.N. Ramachandra, bagged “Best Indian Film Award” at the Osian Cinefan Festival of Asian Films held at New Delhi, a year ago. “Koti Chennaya”, directed by Anand P. Raj and produced by R. Dhanraj, bagged the Rajat Kamal for Best Feature Film in Tulu at the 54th national film awards in Delhi this year. Mr. Dhanraj said that he would produce one more Tulu feature film, “Birduda Devu Poonja” (Devu Poonja, the brave) shortly. It would be directed by Mr. Ramachandra. The film by Mr. Dhanraj is a second film produced on Koti and Chennaya. Vishu Kumar had directed the “Koti-Chennaya”, the black and white film produced by Muddu Suvarna in 1973, which had bagged a State award. Vamana Nandavara, who wrote dialogue and a song for “Koti Chennaya” colour film, said that there was enough content to make another film on “Koti Chennaya”. Other Tulu feature films such as Bisatti Babu (1972), Bhagyavantedi (1981), Bangar Patler (1993) and Badkuda Bile (1994) had bagged State awards, he said. “Baravuda Bandasale” a Tulu short film, was released in 2004. “Guddeda Bhoota” (1990), a Tulu television serial directed by Sadananda Suvarna, was telecast on Bangalore doordarshan channel. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
