Autorickshaw driver commits suicide

CHENNAI: An autorickshaw driver allegedly committed suicide after attacking a housewife in Valasaravakkam here on Monday.

Police said Vivek (36) of Karapakkam had proposed to a married woman in the locality. After the woman’s family shifted to Valasaravakkam, he continued to stalk her.

On Monday, he went to her house when she was alone. When she resisted his advances, Vivek attacked her with a chemical that caused burns.

The woman locked him up in the house and raised an alarm. Fearing attack by locals or police action, Vivek hanged himself.
