CHENNAI: Three persons, including a dentist and a bank manager, were arrested on charges of fraudulently withdrawing loan from the fixed deposit accounts of others. Based on a complaint lodged by a private bank manager, the Central Crime Branch formed a special team led by Inspector C. Subramanian to investigate the case. Preliminary enquiries revealed that S. Suresh Kumar (38) of Pammal and T. Arivarasu (42), a dentist, of Moulivakkam, had canvassed for fixed deposits for the bank. After getting friends, including two Non-Resident Indians, invest Rs.7 crore, they submitted application seeking loan (on the FDs) to the tune of Rs.5.63 crore with forged signatures. Then manager of the bank, C. Sathish (40) of Besant Nagar, colluded with the accused. Police arrested Sathish, Suresh Kumar and Arivarasu on Tuesday. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
