My relations with Left weather-proof: Lalu

K. Balchand

PATNA: Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Wednesday said his relations with the Left were weather-proof and no political eventuality could upset them.

At the inaugural function of the seventh regional office of the CBSE here, Mr. Prasad sang a romantic Hindi song to stress his age-old love for the Left, and that he still was in love with the Left and would continue to do so.

“You can’t expect me to get angry merely because they [Left parties] withdrew support to the UPA government,” he said explaining their compulsions.

Mr. Prasad said the deficit in numbers caused by the exit of the Left had been made up with new alignments and there was no reason to doubt the stability of the Manmohan Singh government.

He was confident that Dr. Singh would prove his majority on the floor of the House.

He said the numbers had been assembled and his presence in the State capital should be taken as surety of the outcome of the vote of confidence.

The Railway Minister predicted that the UPA government would complete its full term and elections would be held as and when due, in April.

Mr. Prasad also paid a visit to Phulwarisharif, where seven people had been killed in recent days.

He visited the residences of the victims S.M. Alam (government official), Bhola Singh and Bindeshwar Yadav and expressed his sympathies.
