VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam district Joint Action Committee of Government employees organised a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday as part of the State-wide agitation demanding the Government to implement their long-pending demands. Chairman of district JAC T. Govardhana Rao who presided over the programme demanded the Government to announce interim relief as it had appointed a Chairman for the ninth Pay Revision Commission and also release the pay anomalies report of the previous PRC. Some of the demands of JAC were sanction of house sites to Government employees, filling up vacancies on a permanent basis, revival of old pension scheme in the place of contributory pension scheme, payment of salaries to the teachers of ZP and Mandal Parishad schools through the Government Treasury, restoration of the right to strike, reviving the 12 per cent interest on GPF, etc. State vice-president of APNGOs’ Association K. Raja Rao also spoke. MLC M.V.S. Sarma and former Minister Reddy Satyanarayana also visited the dharna camp and addressed the participants. Convenor of JAC T. Gopalakrishna, APNGOs’ city president K. Eswara Rao and secretary M. Madhusudhana Rao, and others also addressed the dharna. ProtestVIZIANAGARAM: The employees from various government departments, including Panchayat Raj, staged day-long protests in front of the Collector’s office here on Thursday. V. Rajagopal, chairman of the JACTO, said that the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Government had been adopting similar anti-employees’ policies of his predecessorG.
