SIRSI: A sum of Rs. 1 crore has been granted to set up a tsunami forecast centre at Karwar, Indian National Ocean Information Centre officer K.V. Radhakrishna said in a press release on Friday. An electronic floating apparatus and a device that measures ocean currents, set up in the sea, would send information about tsunami to a satellite, he said and added that the satellite message would be received at the information centre at the Fishermen’s Association office in Karwar.
