Delay in distribution of fertilizer riles farmers

Agitation: Farmers staging a dharna at Mahatma Gandhi Circle in Chitradurga on Friday.

Chitradurga: Traffic was affected at Mahatma Gandhi Circle for nearly an hour on Friday, following a dharna by farmers against the alleged delay in the distribution of fertilizers.

The farmers said that officials of the Agriculture Department had been making fake promises with regard to fertilizer distribution.

Farmers, shouting slogans against the State Government, prevented motorists from continuing their journey.

They withdrew the protest after the police and officials of the district administration intervened.

The officials promised to distribute fertilizers to farmers on Tuesday.
