St. Joseph’s wins title

Chennai: St. Joseph’s College of Engineering (Chennai) won the fifth State-level open badminton tournament hosted by the Engineers Badminton Club, Dharamapuri, against Chennai on July 7.

The St. Joseph’s team, represented by R. Vijay Anand and Aloysiyoys Vijay, won the final 21-18, 16-21, 21-19.

In the pre-quarterfinals, the pair beat Madurai (Kandavel and Ethiyan) 21-12, 21-15, and then Chennai team of Irduyaraj and Sangameshwaran in the quarterfinals 21-14, 16-21, 21-13.

Their victims in the semifinals were Mohan Kumar and Manoj of Coimbatore 21-16, 21-10.
