Big win for Central Zone

VIJAYAWADA: Central Zone defeated North Zone by 234 runs in the ACA u-19 inter-zonal tournament for the P. Narasimha Rao Trophy at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Sunday.

The scores: Central Zone 187 and 323 for nine declared in 84.4 overs (T. Vamsi Krishna 70, P. Durga Prasad 52, Ch. Ramesh 51, G. Brahmananda Reddy three for 98) bt North Zone 95 and 181 in 74.1 overs (G. Chiranjeevi 61, D. Rishi three for 32, T.K. Ganesh Kumar three for 25, B. Sudhakar three for 36).

Guntur posts win

Guntur scored an innings and 112-run victory over West Godavari in the two-day ACA Central Zone u-22 inter-district tournament for the Md. Nazimullah Khan Trophy at Guntur on Sunday.

The scores: Guntur 258 in 84.5 overs (Md. Basha 54) bt West Godavari 75 in 31 overs (T. Koteswara Rao four for 24) & 71 in 29 overs (T. Koteswara Rao five for 27).

Badminton tournament

The Krishna District Badminton Association will conduct the District championship-cum-selections in singles and doubles for boys and girls on July 26 and 27 at the DRMC indoor stadium.

The events will be held in mini, sub-junior, junior, men and women and veteran segments. Entries should be sent to N. Rajesh, badminton coach, DRMC Stadium before June 24. The entry fee for singles Rs.20 for doubles Rs. 40.
