House sites allotted to poor families

Beneficiaries told

to complete construction of houses in three months


VIZIANAGARAM: Botcha Satyanarayana, Minister for Housing, on Monday allotted house sites to 2,200 poor families through draw of lottery in bit-II at Kondakarakam under the Indiramma programme.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr. Satyanarayana reiterated that all the eligible would be provided houses and at the same time he warned the ineligible that the houses sanctioned to them would be cancelled. He assured beneficiaries of loans through private moneylenders if they faced problem from banks in the construction of houses. The Minister said that 8,000 more beneficiaries who were identified in the town would be issued pattas at Kondakarakam, Karakavalasa, Saripalli and Andhra University campus area.

He instructed them to complete construction of houses in three months else the pattas would be cancelled. Collector B. Kishore, who was present, said that as bankers had agreed to release the loan amount to beneficiaries, service providers would be arranged shortly and appealed to them not to depend on middlemen.

Complex inaugurated

Mr. Satyanarayana inaugurated the municipal administrative complex built at a cost of Rs.1.02 crores.

Mr. Satyanarayana said that after the present elected body took over office some two-and-a-half year ago, widening of roads was taken up on a massive scale. The ongoing widening of road from fort to Gumchi would be completed by the end of this month, he said and added that work on the road between clock tower and Kanyakaparameswari temple would begin shortly after the compensation amount as demanded by some owners was settled. He said that the road between clock tower and Prakasam Park would be made two lanes and the traders displaced on account of widening would be accommodated in the municipal shopping complex. He appealed to all political parties to cooperate in the developmental activities.

Lok Sabha member Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi detailed the other developmental activities and said that underground drainage system would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 90 crores and repairs to welfare hostels with Rs.27 lakhs.

She said that Rajiv Arogya Sri would be launched in the district on July 17. K. Veerabhadra Swamy, MLA, also spoke.
