Businessman and his brother allegedly beaten up Says two men misbehaved with his daughter NEW DELHI: In yet another case of road rage in the Capital, a businessman and his brother were allegedly beaten up by two young men in Inderpuri here late on Sunday night after their vehicles were involved in an accident. Deepak Gupta and his brother Narender Gupta were returning home along with their two young daughters in their Indica car after attending a wedding in neighbouring Gurgaon around midnight when a rashly driven Hyundai Accent car rammed into their vehicle. An altercation broke out between the two parties and the young men in the Hyundai car, 19-year-old Anuj and his friend Bagesh, allegedly beat up the Gupta brothers. As the accident took place near their residence in Inderpuri, the Guptas summoned some of their relatives who rushed to the spot and allegedly beat up Anuj and Bagesh. The two were then handed over to the police. Deepak Gupta alleged that Anuj and Bagesh had been trailing their car from Dhaula Kuan and even misbehaved with his daughter and niece. He told the police that the over-speeding Hyundai car was being driven dangerously before it hit the Indica. Deepak Gupta alleged that the occupants of the car were drunk. On the other hand, Anuj and Bagesh have levelled similar allegations against the Guptas and accused them of rash and negligent driving. “The accident took place around midnight at an isolated place and there were no eyewitnesses to authenticate the sequence of events. We have registered a case of rash driving and causing hurt against Anuj. Further investigation in the matter is on,” said a senior police officer on Monday. The police said the Guptas too were drunk and that the complainant and the accused suffered injuries in the accident and not in the altercation that ensued. Both the parties involved in the accident are said to be traders living in the same Inderpuri area of West Delhi. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
