GUNTUR: Beneficiaries of the State Government’s flagship Rajiv Gruha Kalpa housing scheme, were allotted the flats through a lottery system at a programme held at Adavitakkelapadu on Monday afternoon.

Mayor Rayapati Mohan Sai Krishna and Municipal Commissioner Siddharth Jain took part in the programme. Out of the 1,088 flats constructed in the sprawling housing complex, 700 have been allotted to the beneficiaries through lots taken at the meeting. The Mayor said that the construction of the housing complex reflected the government’s resolve to make the dream of every person in the State to own a house a reality. He said that the beneficiaries could soon look forward to live in the houses after the drinking water pipeline was laid.

The construction of 1,088 flats in 34 blocks, each of them measuring 254 square feet has been completed by the Andhra Pradesh Housing Board officials with an estimated cost of Rs.12.48 crore. Ten 100 KV transmitters have been set up.
