VISAKHAPATNAM: The Chitrakonda incident, in which 38 persons were killed, most of them the AP Police’s elite anti-naxal Greyhound constables, has to be analysed deeply and one should not make hasty conclusions, Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police Akun Sabharwal said. “The concentration, for two weeks, was on salvage operations at Chitrakonda and we need some time to take up analysis. One surrender will provide a lot of information”, Dr. Sabharwal told reporters here on Monday. His statement also indicated that surrender of a leader is on the cards as there are rumours that a Maoist couple is already in the police custody. The Chitrakonda incident would not have any effect on the conditions in the Andhra-Orissa Border area and need not be considered that the Maoists were active again. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
