Gold jewellery, cash stolen

CHENNAI: About 200 sovereigns of gold jewellery, silver vessels and Rs.80,000 in cash were reported missing from a house in Korukkupet here on Wednesday.

Police said Suresh Gandhi, a jewellery shop owner, returned home on Wednesday evening and found that the front door of his house on the third floor of building forced open. The valuables kept in the almirah were missing.

On information, fingerprint experts were pressed into service. A senior police official, who visited the scene of crime, said investigators were verifying the exact quantum of valuables missing from the house.
