KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting beat Peerless SC by a solitary goal in its second outing in the Calcutta Football League’s premier division on Wednesday. In the match, played at the district centre of Barasat, Mohammedan Sporting missed several chances before its Nigerian recruit Mike Okoro found the all-important goal in the 41st minute. The three points from the win helped Mohammedan Sporting tie with defending champion Mohun Bagan on top of the league table with six points from two matches. Sporting went into attack right from the start but could not convert chances, which came in good numbers. — Principal Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
