Uniform syllabus to be introduced in schools soon

NAMAKKAL: The elected representatives from Namakkal district will initiate efforts for establishing a government medical college here, Deputy Speaker of State Assembly V.P. Duraisamy said.

Participating in a function organised to celebrate education development day and birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Kamarajar here on Tuesday, the Deputy speaker said that the demand for the establishment of a medical college in Namakkal would be taken to the notice of the Chief Minister.

Listing various initiatives taken up for the development of education, Mr. Duraisamy said that the State government will introduce the uniform syllabus in school education shortly, which would ensure quality education to students from all sections of society.

The government had earmarked over Rs. 7,800 crore for the development of education.

Concerted efforts had been initiated to improve the infrastructure facilities in government schools.

Students in Tamil Nadu were being given free textbooks, bus passes, uniforms and bicycles, he pointed out.

Later, he presented laptops to 34 students who had secured high scores in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations in the district level.

He also distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted as a part of the celebration.

Collector U. Sagayam, presiding over the programme, highlighted the contributions of former Chief Minister Kamarajar for the development of education.

The district administration would ensure effective implementation of all the schemes aimed at education development, he said.
