“Left will try its best to oust Congress-led UPA government”

Special Correspondent

NEYVELI: Gurudas Dasgupta, leader of the CPI Parliamentary group in the Lok Sabha and national secretary of the CPI, told reporters here on Thursday that the Left parties would try their best to oust the Congress-led government at the Centre.

Leaving governance in the hands of the corporates would be a dangerous aberration of democracy and had ominous forebodings, Mr. Dasgupta said. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P.Chidambaram and Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia were playing into the hands of the corporates.

India could do without nuclear power and if it was absolutely essential why had the U.S. not set up a single nuclear plant in the past 30 years, Mr. Dasgupta asked.

It was a business tactic adopted by the Americans to dump dangerous things in India, he said.

As regards post-trust motion scenario in Tamil Nadu, where the Left parties are in alliance with the ruling DMK, he said Tamil Nadu was different from Delhi.
