Traffic hit as students, parents block bus

Tirupur: Parents and nearly 30 students residing at Murugampalayam and Sundamedu areas near Tirupur on Thursday blocked a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus in protest against erratic timing and refusal of the bus crew to allow students with bus pass to board it.

It is learnt that the students were facing hardship in reaching the school at Iduvampalayam since the bus timings were irregular.

The students also pointed out that ever since the free bus passes for the academic year were issued to them, the bus crew were reportedly refusing to stop the bus for the students to board it.

Traffic in Murugampalayam and Sundamedu areas was paralysed for over an hour following the blockade.

The TNSTC authorities visited the place and assured the parents and students that their grievances would be redressed following which the agitation was withdrawn.
