Rotary adopts Duppada village

VIZIANAGARAM: Rotary Club, Vizianagaram, has decided to adopt Duppada village, near here, and develop it into a model village at an estimated cost of Rs.19 lakhs this year. Dr. Tirumala Prasad, who will be installed as president of the club on Friday, disclosed this at a press conference on Thursday. He said basic amenities such as safe drinking water through pipes to each of the 85 houses, roads and underground drainage facility would be provided. Tata Prakasam, an NRI, is also associated with the club for converting the village into a model one.

He appealed to Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana, Lok Sabha member Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi and the district administration to coordinate with the club. Former president of the club and chairman of Rotary ‘Swargadhamam’ project V. Chandrasekhar said that work on the crematorium being executed at a cost of Rs.1crore would be completed by the end of next week and it would be open to public on August 21. K. Suresh Reddy, Assembly Speaker, dedicated the Swargadhamam to the community in June last year. Outgoing president V. Subba Raju, past president R.K. Jain and others were present.
