Nagercoil: The district experienced widespread rain for the third day, particularly in the catchment areas, on Thursday. According to sources, a 45-year-old rice mill building, known as Anandhavalli Ammal rice mill at Padmanabhapuram, the erstwhile capital of Travancore state, collapsed following the rain. Four persons, including the son of Anandhavalli Ammal, V. Ravihandran, had a miraculous escape. However, one person, Velayudhan Pillai, sustained head injuries and was rushed to a private hospital. Level in damsThe water level in Pechipparai dam stood at 31.10 feet, 33.55 feet in Perunchani, 7.31 feet in Chitar I, 7.41 feet in Chittar II, 16.70 feet in Mukkadal dam and 4.10 feet in Poigai dam.
