There are discounts galore everywhere as shop-owners and businessmen use a varied tactics to boost sales in Aashadam, considered to be the ‘dark’ or inauspicious period of the year.

Started as a marketing gimmick to allure customers during the lean season, the concept of Aashadam discounts has caught up quite fast.

With enticing range of discounts and schemes offered, it has turned into the busiest period of the year for businessmen in the city.

The booming crowd out on the streets during this season depicts the real picture. The reasons are obvious. The discounts are turning higher and so are the sales.

With the start of a new academic season, college goers have plenty of reasons to smile.

While bigger malls like Kalaniketan, CMR and V-Square have rolled out their special offers for the season, this is just the right time to shop on branded garments.

K-Lounge has come up with a flat 50 per cent and 60 per cent off on selected range of clothing.

A two-plus-two offer is given on the entire men’s and women’s collection. Right from denims and casuals to formal shirts and trousers, the showroom has a wide collection suited for every occasion.

Fashion Silk House is offering a flat 40 per cent discount on sarees.

The showroom has a wide variety of sarees in chiffon, georgettes, crapes, printed pure silks, embroidery sarees, supernets and ‘kotas’. Not only clothing, even shoes are atop the discount bandwagon with prestigious brands like Woodland and Bata announcing up to 50 per cent off.

With succeeding months filled with wedding dates, Aashadam no doubt turns into a platform for people to plan heavy shopping for marriages and betrothals.

In the jewellery section, Shyam Zaveri has come up with new range of collections of ruby, emerald and gold ornaments in trendy and modern designs.

A special collection of antique jewellery has also been recently included in its range.

Tanishq has announced a 22K=23K exchange offer on gold jewellery. The offer extends an opportunity to exchange your old gold jewellery to jewellery worth a karat extra.

“For instance, on exchange of jewellery worth 22K you can gain one karat more,” says Rana of Tanishq. A five per cent discount is also offered on diamond jewellery. One of the exciting offers is a 25 per cent flat discount on Fastrack watches. The showroom has more than 3,000 Fastrack watches.

This is not just a season to shop for clothes and jewellery, emphasizes Ch. Sarat Ram of Godrej Interio Division (Home).

As part of its monsoon bonanza offer, Godrej Interio is offering 7.5 per cent discount on cupboards and 15 per cent on its trendy range of home furniture like sofa sets, dining sets, computer tables, kids furniture and living room furniture.
