Accused detained under Goondas Act

CHENNAI: Commissioner of Police R. Sekar on Wednesday ordered the detention of A. Palani (33) under the Goondas Act.

Police said the accused was involved in a robbery case.

On July 7, he barged into a house in Periyar Nagar and took away Rs.5,000 in cash and a mobile phone at knife-point.

He attacked a boy who tried to resist.

When police tried to arrest Palani next day on Jambulingam main road, he brandished a knife and attacked the police.

He was lodged in the Puzhal Central Prison, police added.
