Collector suspends officers for dereliction of duty

Inspects desilting of tank at Pazhavanchi taken up at a cost of Rs.3.20 lakh


TIRUCHI: Three makkal nala paniyalargal and a block development officer were placed under suspension on charges of dereliction of duty by the Collector T. Soundiah while inspecting development works taken up under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in Marungapuri union on Thursday. He ordered the suspension of two makkal nala paniyalargal, K. Malaikannu and D. Periasamy, after finding that they had not properly maintained the registers of the NREGS at Vaguthazhvarpatti Panchayat Office.

He later inspected the desilting of a tank at Pazhavanchi, taken up at a cost of Rs.3.20 lakh under the NREGS. After inspecting the NREGS records at Thirunellipati Panchayat Office, he ordered the suspension of another makkal nala paniyalar M. Ayyakannu as he was not reporting for duty regularly.

He also ordered the suspension of the Block Development Officer (Panchayat) S. Ambrose as the NREGS works were progressing at a slow pace.

The Project Officer of the District Rural Development Agency J. Dhanasekaran and other officials accompanied the Collector.
