PUDUKOTTAI: Strict action would be taken against fertilizer hoarders in the district, Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar said. In a press release issued here on Thursday, the Collector said that the district administration had initiated steps to ensure prompt supply of fertilizers to the farmers who had raised ‘kuruvai’ crop this season. DAP stock adequateAdequate quantum of DAP had been stocked at the cooperative godowns. Surprise checks would be conducted at private shops and those found hoarding the fertilizers would be brought to book, the release said. The strict measures include cancellation of licences, she warned. Vigilance committee formedA district-level vigilance committee has been constituted for ensuring supply of fertilizers to the farmers. The Committee, headed by Collector, comprises Superintendent of Police, Joint Registrar of Agriculture, Joint Registrar of Co-operatives, Regional Manager of TANFED, Revenue Divisional Officers, Assistant Directors of Agriculture (Quality Control) and Assistant Directors of Agriculture for monitoring the supply.
