VISAKHAPATNAM: A seminar on ‘Green building concepts and challenges’ will be organized by the local chapter of Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) in the city on Sunday. AwarenessAnnouncing this at a media conference here on Friday, president of the chapter K. Leela Prasad said the main focus of the seminar would to be enlighten and bring awareness among all sectors of the city like architects, consultants, builders, policy-makers, engineers, and students on green building design and advantages. ISHRAE immediate past national president Pankaj Dharkar and Vishal Garg from IIIT Hyderabad would deliver lectures. Several papers would also be presented during the seminar. Painting contestAlso, the prizes for winners of the painting competition conducted by ISHRAE for children recently, would be given away during the seminar, he said. About 3,100 children from nearly 100 schools had participated in the contest on green building concepts like conservation of energy, protection of environment from pollution, protecting the Earth from over exploitation using solar energy, lighting, utilization of recycling materials, etc., he disclosed. President-elect P. Vishu Kumar Raju said the green building concepts include proper ventilation, and steps which would help reduction in consumption of electricity, ground water, tapping of solar energy, etc. Member of the chapter K.
