Protest: Activists of the Communist Party of India stage a demonstration in front of the taluk office in Krishnagiri on Friday. – Krishnagiri: Activists of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the taluk office here asking the State Government to provide loans to all farmers without any pre-conditions. It should also ensure the supply of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides at all cooperative societies in the district. They asked the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to sort out the problems and ensure uninterrupted power supply in the district. Farmers complained that the unannounced power cuts had severely affected the agriculture activities. They wanted the Government to enroll all eligible farmers as members of cooperative societies without any conditions. The Government should include sericulture farmers under the loan waiver scheme. CPI district secretary S. Kannu led the demonstration. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
