Alleged murder of Dalit triggers protest

KOLAR: Scores of Dalits staged a protest at Chintamani in Chickballapur district on Thursday demanding the arrest of the accused in an alleged murder of a Dalit, Venkatarayappa (40), of Rampur, who belongs to the Scheduled Caste Bovi community.

Rampur is situated near Kambalapalli where seven Dalits of a family were burnt to death about eight years ago. The body was found on Thursday. According to the protesters, Venkatara-yappa was murdered for not repaying his loan.
