SJBHS in final

BANGALORE: St. Joseph’s Boys High School (SJBHS) set up a title clash with Bishop Cotton’s Boys High School for the Centenary Shield for seniors with a facile 4-0 win over St. Germain’s at the hockey stadium here on Friday.

S. Abhay (7th) opened the scoring for the winner and M. Karthik (12th) made it 2-0 at the interval. Karthik (47th) scored his second goal of the match and Neel D’Souza (58th) scored off a penalty corner just before the final whistle. Bishop Cotton’s had made the final with its win earlier on Thursday.

In the Father Eric Vaz memorial tournament for juniors, St. Joseph’s Boys HS `A’ booked its berth for the final beating Sarla Birla Academy 3-2 in a closely contested match. Sarla Birla took the lead early with D. Bharath (3rd) sounding the boards.

St. Joseph’s `A’ restored parity with Shreyas Somanna (20th) breaking through Sarla Birla’s defence. Brandon D’Souza (33rd) scored off a penalty corner to sway the tide in favour of the host and Sandeep Aranappa (38th) consolidated the gains further. Tanay Reddy scored off a penalty corner for Sarla Birla to reduce the margin of victory.
