Niranjana, Kiran bag titles

KOCHI: Kiran George, son of Arjuna Awardee George Thomas, brushed aside Evaan John Abraham 21-9, 21-8 and won the under-10 boys title in the Ernakulam District badminton championships at the Rajiv Gandhi indoor stadium, Kadavanthra, on Friday evening.

Niranjana Anil, who is coached by State champion K.A. Anish, won the under-13 girls title, defeating Farha Mather 21-10, 21-8.

Under-10 boys final: Kiran George bt Evaan John Abraham 21-9, 21-8. Semifinals: Kiran bt Kris Bhatia 21-6, 21-3; Evaan bt Roshan K. Victor 21-8, 21-9.

Under-13 girls final: Niranjana Anil bt Farha Mather 21-10, 21-8. Semifinals: Niranjana bt Sreya Bose 18-21, 21-18, 21-8; Farha bt Cynda Percy 18-21, 22-20, 21-14. – Principal Correspondent
