Speed up water supply schemes: civic official

KARUR: Additional Commissioner of Municipal Administration P. Senthil Kumar advised the civic body officials to ensure unhindered potable water supply in the municipal limits and expedite ongoing drinking water supply schemes.
He was inspecting the functioning of municipalities in Karur district.
Mr. Senthil Kumar inspected the functioning of the Karur, Inam Karur and Thanthoni Municipalities in Karur district.
Scrutinising the functioning of the Karur Municipality, the official sought to know the details of the various ongoing development works and schemes.
He visited the Pasupathypalayam ground level bridge across the Amaravathy, biogas gasifier crematorium at Balambalpuram and the slaughterhouse on Vangal Road.
He then visited the Combined Water Supply Scheme head works at Nerur off the Cauvery besides inspecting the functioning of the Inam Karur and Thanthoni municipalities.
Mr. Senthil Kumar also acquainted himself with the various development schemes that were under way in the three municipalities and urged the officials to show urgency in maintaining potable water supply and expedite drinking water supply schemes.
Municipal Chairpersons P. Sivakamsundari (Karur), Kavitha Ganesan (Inam Karur) and J. Revathy (Thanthoni), officials from the three local bodies and others were present during the inspections.
