Youth slits girl’s throat

She was attacked with a sharp object while returning after attending EAMCET counselling


KHAMMAM: An 18-year-old girl’s throat was slit by a youth when she rejected his moves to befriend her at Mustaphanagar locality in the town on Friday.

The girl identified as Sameera, was on her way back home when Mukhtar Pasha, a photographer, attacked her with a sharp blade like object around 7.45 p.m., according to the police.

A student of the local Sri Chaitanya College, she was returning after attending EAMCET counselling. Mukhtar Pasha lay in wait near Sameera’s residence and attacked her, taking onlookers by surprise.

She fell unconscious by the time they could go to her rescue.

The police who found her in a pool of blood, shifted her to a hospital where she was operated upon. Her condition is said to be critical.

The youth has been taken into custody.

According to reports, he was pestering the girl for the past few months even as she tried to evade him.
