Guru’s remand extended till July 31

ARIYALUR: The remand of Vanniyar Sangam president and senior PMK leader ‘Kaduvetti’ Guru who was arrested recently in connection with two ‘attempt to murder cases’ and subsequently detained under the National Security Act for making an inflammatory speech, was extended till July 31 on Friday. The Ariyalur Judicial Magistrate, Vijayarani, extended the remand of Mr. Guru through video conferencing, in connection with cases registered against him at the Meensurutti, Udayarpalayam and Ariyalur police stations.

The police were said to have requested for permitting Mr. Guru’s appearance through video-conferencing in order to avoid law and order problems. — Staff Reporter
