South Zone posts win

VIJAYAWADA: South Zone defeated North Zone by seven wickets in the ACA u-19 inter-zonal tournament for P. Narasimha Raju Trophy here on Friday.

The scores: North Zone 208 and 153 in 57.3 overs (Ch. Praneeth Kumar 53, S. Khan four for 37) lost to South Zone 271 and 91 for three in 20 overs (Y. Prem Sagar 45).

Ashok hits ton

A century by V. Ashok (101, 10x4) helped Guntur to score 300 for eight in 90 overs against Prakasam in the two-day ACA Central Zone u-22 inter-district tournament at Guntur on Friday. Prakasam’s Bhuvan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming six for 90.

The scores: Guntur 300 for eight in 90 overs (V. Ashok 101, David 53, Sk. Basha 52, Bhuvan six for 90) vs. Prakasam.

Matches drawn

Both Anantapur v. Nellore and Chittoor v. Kurnool matches in the ACA South Zone u-22 inter-district championship ended in a draw at Anantapur on Friday. Vikram Surya Teja’s 117 for Kurnool was the highlight of the day.

The scores: Anantapur 113 and 193 for three in 43 overs (Sardar 79, Khaja 77) drew with Nellore 88 in 49 overs (Kiran Kumar four for eight) and 162 for eight in 43 overs.

Chittoor 274 and 100 for seven in 36 overs drew with Kurnool 319 for nine in 90 overs (Vikram Surya Teja 117, Vinod 71). — Sports Reporter
