20-km relay for corporates on August 10

Bangalore: Runners For Life will organise a 20-km. relay for corporates here on August 10. Teams from various companies will compete in the relay to win the title of the fastest corporate running team. Besides providing a platform for interaction, the organisation aims at raising awareness about staying healthy and maintaining fitness among corporates.

The relay “Mformation Urban Stampede 08” will be held at Olde Bangalore Resort near Bengaluru International Airport. The relay will be held in three categories – open, women and mixed.

“We are thrilled to bring this unique running event to Bangalore,” said Arvind Bharathi, manager, Runners For Life. “We, as a running community, have been into organising running events for a long time, but bringing the corporate giants to run is a first-time effort.” The objective was to spread awareness of the benefits of running, he said. The organisers are expecting at least 50 teams comprising four members in each team from various corporate companies to participate in the event.

The fund raised through registration fee will be shared with Dream-A-Dream, a non-governmental organisation working towards empowering children from vulnerable backgrounds. For more details, runners can visit www.urbanstampede.com or www.runnersforlife.com
