VIZIANAGARAM: The Rotary Club Vizianagaram Central decided to adopt all municipal schools in the town if the proposal it made to the municipality recently was approved, said E.R. Somayajulu, new president of the club.

At a press conference here on Sunday, he said that initially it would adopt schools at Ganjipet and provide basic facilities like furniture, drinking water, uniforms and books. Keeping in view the chaotic traffic in the town, the club would shortly organise a workshop on traffic awareness with the active participation of Hero Honda. It would conduct painting competitions on August 15, award prizes for the best paintings and supply booklets on traffic rules to schoolchildren on that day. Mr. Somayajulu said that it was also decided to adopt municipal parks beginning with the one in SBI Colony and develop them as a model one.

He announced the following office-bearers for 2008-09: D.S.P. Lingam, secretary, V.V.S. Prasad, vice-president and P.S.C. Nageswara Rao, treasurer. The outgoing president B. Narasinga Rao was present.
