The Kimaaya and German Cleft Foundation has selected the Subham PREMA Hospital as the regional centre to perform the surgeries and in addition to the surgeries the hospital, for the first time in this area, the hospital is also conducting pre-operative speech and voice evaluations and post-operative speech therapy free of cost, director general of PREMA Hospitals S.V. Adinarayana Rao has informed. Awareness campsSo far, the hospital has performed 450 surgeries and is planning to conduct identification and awareness camps in Andhra Pradesh, south Orissa and Chattisgarh for the benefit of patients. A team of oro-maxial surgeons, dental surgeons and anaesthesiologists, headed by a noted cranio-facial surgeon Y. Siva Nagendra Reddy, is performing the surgeries. Audiologists, speech therapists and clinical psychologists are also involved in the project to ensure total rehabilitation of patients having these congenital deformities. The hospital is providing free pre and post operation therapies as the patients having this condition would have nasality of speech and are unable to produce some sounds correctly even after surgery. They need speech and voice modulation therapy. The patients would also be provided free accommodation and food.
