Selection panel for sports awards

NEW DELHI: ‘Flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh will head the selection panel to choose athletes for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award for 2007, according to a Government notification here on Sunday.

Besides Singh, there are 14 other members in the committee.

Another 15-member committee, headed by former Davis Cupper Ramanathan Krishnan, has been formed to select coaches for Dronacharya Award.

Selection Committees: For Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award: Milkha Singh (athletics), Zafar Iqbal (hockey), M.D. Valsamma, P. Gopi Chand (badminton), Khazan Singh (swimming), Naresh Kumar (wrestling).

Bhuvaneshwari Kumari (shooting), Baichung Bhutia (football), G.R. Vishwanath (cricket), Saley Joseph (volleyball), N. Srinivasan (sports administrator), Pargat Singh (sports administrator). Sayan Chatterjee (Director General-Sports Authority of India), Injeti Srinivas (joint secretary-Sports Ministry), Joe Sebastian (Director-Sports).

For Dronacharya Award: Ramanathan Krishnan (tennis), Shiny Wilson (athletics).

Dilip Kumar Tirkey (hockey), Limba Ram (archery), Jyotirmoyee Sikder (athletics), Rupa Saini (hockey), S. Naeemuddin (football), R.D. Singh (paralympics), Sukhchain Singh Cheema (wrestling), O.P. Bharadwaj (boxing), Dr. Kamaljit Singh (sports administrator), Zoliama Royte (sports administrator), Sayan Chatterjee (Director General-SAI), Injeti Srinivas (joint secretary-sports ministry), Joe Sebastian (Director-Sports).
