Three Parisara Vahini buses and two mini-buses were also launched

Bangalore: Getting to the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) has become easier for residents of Padmanabhanagar, with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) launching new services from the area to the airport on Sunday.

The services include five dedicated Vayu Vajra buses to BIA operating at a frequency of 60 minutes. Besides, three Parisara Vahini buses and two mini-buses to Kempegowda Bus Stand, Shivajinagar Bus Stand and Yeshwanthpur were also launched. Two of the buses will operate from Bhuwaneshwari Nagar.

Minister for Transport R. Ashok inaugurated these services at the Padmanabhanagar bus stand. Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Ashok said that residents of Padmanabhanagar had to earlier shell out exorbitant amounts on taxi fares to get to the BIAL.

With these new buses, it is easier for them to reach the airport faster paying less, he added.

He complimented the BMTC for promoting mass transport to reduce the clogging of Bangalore roads.

A resident of Padmanabhanagar A.V. Shivaramu applauded the launch of the bus services and said: “There was very little bus connectivity in this area. But now with the launch of these services the residents will benefit immensely.”
