Sriram holds Barua

MANGALORE: The youngsters continued to trouble the higher-rated players in the second Mangalore FIDE-rated all-India open chess tournament here on Monday.

After 15-year-old Himal Gusain of Chandigarh held GM Pravin Thipsay (Maharashtra) in the third round on Sunday, it was the turn of Sriram Sarja from Karnataka to share honours with the other GM in the fray — Dibyendu Barua (West Bengal) — in the fourth round on Monday. Both the GMs are now half-a-point behind eight players who are in joint lead with four points apiece. Himal (3) continued his fine run, this time drawing with IM G.B. Prakash (3) of Tamil Nadu.
