‘Enrol more women in SHGs’

SHGs collecting 1.20 lakh litres of milk per day

District SHGs stand first in procuring maize


Mahabubnagar: To eradicate poverty in rural areas more women are joining self-help groups (SHGs), said Minster for Rural Development G. Chinna Reddy.

He was speaking after inaugurating modernisation works of DWCRA Bhavan, taken up with a cost of Rs.6 lakh, here on Monday.

The Minister said that steps are being taken enrol one lakh women by forming some 8,000 SHGs in the district during the year. Loans to the tune of Rs.485 crore are being extended to SHGs under ‘Pavala Vaddi’ against a target of Rs.535 crore, he said.

The Minister also informed SHGs in the district are in good position by collecting 1.20 lakh litres of milk per day. He said the district self help groups stood first in procuring maize and occupied second place in paddy procurement.

The Minister directed DRDA Project Director Narsimha Reddy to complete modernization works of DWCRA Bhavan with in a month.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson K. Damodhar Reddy, Municipal Chairperson Obedullha Kotwal and other officials were also present.
