Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The tri-centenary celebrations of ‘Guru Maanyo Granth Gurta Gaddi Divas’ will be celebrated from July 22 to 25, and the historic Jagriti Yatra, which started from Hazoor Sahib Abchal Nagar at Nanded in Maharashtra, will reach Chennai on Tuesday evening.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, who will receive the Yatra near Chembarapakkam, said the followers of Sri Guru Grant Sahibji in Chennai would be privileged to receive the Yatra coming from Bangalore.

Mr. Barnala said that for the first time, the hand-held arms used by Sri Guru Gobind Singhji and the first handwritten Guru Granth Sahibji, by Baba Deep Singhji, would be displayed at the Gurudwara Sahib here.

On Wednesday, a procession from the Gurudwara Sahib will be taken out to Guru Nanak College, Velachery. Horse carriages, floats, gatka martial art (Sikh martial art) troupes and music bands will take part.
