Lightning claims five lives in Tindivanam

VILLUPURAM: Five farm labourers, including a woman, were struck dead by lightning at Salavathi near Tindivanam on Tuesday.

Seven of their co-workers were injured.

The bodies of Purusothaman (27), Rajiv (28) and Indirani (45) from Salavathi and Devadas (50) and Vinayagam (37) from Melpathi were taken to the Tindivanam government hospital for post-mortem.

The injured were referred to a Puducherry hospital.
