HYDERABAD: All-India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Rahul Gandhi will participate in a meeting of the APCC executive committee meeting here on July 27. Mr. Gandhi will be here mainly to participate in the valedictory function of the ‘Aam Admi Ke Sipahi’ (common man’s soldier) training programme for Youth Congress workers. He will also meet the heads of the front organisations, departments and cells. Meanwhile, the five-day training classes for Youth Congress office-bearers, as part of the ‘Aam Admi Ke Sipahi’ programme, commenced on the city outskirts on Wednesday. The inauguration was a low-key affair with the presence of the AICC secretary Jitendra Singh and Indian Youth Congress president Ashok Tanwar. More than 2,500 YC cadres are attending the programme of which two days are earmarked for classroom sessions and next two days for field visits. The ‘Aam Admi Ke Sipahi’ programme aims at identifying three active YC workers in each village to help the rural poor in accessing benefits from the Central and State Governments. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
